My PhD dissertation, completed in 2017 at the University of Michigan. Explores micro-level social dynamics at the turn of the 20th century in the central highlands of Angola. This southwestern African country was officially under Portuguese colonial rule in 1902, when a large uprising staged by Mbailundu people threatened the tiny European country's rule.
